A lot by the sea

A drawing of an invented lot by the sea, with the street and the water to the east and a neighbour's house on each of the other three sides. A proposed three-storey building sits inside the setback line. Its shadows at 9 am, noon and 3 pm on 21 June fall to the south, and it hides part of the water from the house behind, uphill. The building can be moved with the arrow keys.

Fig. 10 — Three neighbours, one sea. You’re in the way.

An invented lot with invented rules, drawn the way a site plan would be. The water is to the east, and the shadows are Sydney's at 9, noon and 3 on 21 June, the shortest day. Drag the building around the lot. Its setbacks, its shadows and the water it hides from the neighbours follow it.

The real Altus also checked the planning rules, costed the build and ran the cashflows through a correlated Monte Carlo, but those parts live in words now, not in the drawing.
